Jonathan Liew was an octochamp in Series 69. He is a columnist for The Daily Telegraph, who usually writes opinion pieces on sports.

Liew began his run with victory over Series 5 semi-finalist June Madell and scored 754 points, often showing great skill on 6 small numbers games. However, in a tough series this was only enough to qualify him as #6 seed. He returned in December for the series finals but was defeated by number 3 seed Glen Webb.

Since his time on Countdown, he has occasionally been seen on TV shows such as MOTD2 Extra reviewing football headlines.
