He saw off the challenge of Ian McMenzie in the quarter-finals, before facing Ben Wilson in a tense semi-final. The game hinged on Wilson getting RIVULETS which gave him a one point lead going into Round 14. Wilson chose six small numbers and Ryan was unable to come up with the target, meaning that Wilson lead by 11 points going into the conundrum, which he duly solved in one second to win the game 80 – 101. Ryan was unavailable for the Championship of Champions XI, and was replaced by Kevin McMahon.
