8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 5 was a series of four special episodes that began on 5 September 2014 and ended on 29 December 2014 with a Christmas Special.

Notably, the Christmas Special was the first time a seven-round format was used, discounting the original 30-minute backdoor pilot. It has since become a permanent fixture on the show albeit some eight-round games are played still to allow more time for comedic and anecdotal sections.
