Episode 1977 was broadcast on 4 April 1997, as part of Series 35.

Julie Tomlinson played Alan Cannon, with Alan Cannon winning 45 – 24. The Dictionary Corner guest was Richard Digance, and the lexicographer was Rob Scriven.

NOTE: Alan's declaration of "ENTRAIL" in Round 7 should have been allowed, as "entrail" is in the dictionary as a verb (it is a weaving term meaning to entangle a fold), so the final score should have been 52-24.
