Episode S1 was the first special episode broadcast, on 26 May 2003, although it was the third special recorded. The contestants were Stuart Barker, a five-time winner in Series 35, and his wife Daphne Barker, who narrowly lost her debut game in Series 42. Stuart emerged the winner 98-78. The Dictionary Corner guest was Ann Widdecombe, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
