Special episode 17, broadcast 2 August 2004, was a 15-round game between Mike Brown and Nita Marr, both famed for their Countdown fandom. Mike runs The Countdown Page and Nita runs the Edinburgh Countdown Club. Mike was a quarter-finalist in Series 48 and Nita was a semi-finalist in Series 13. The Dictionary Corner guest was Richard Stilgoe, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
