Latest revision as of 16:56, 12 August 2023

Episode S23 was broadcast on 30 May 2005, as a special episode between two contestants under the age of 16. It was broadcast following the conclusion of England vs Bangladesh.

Austin Shin played Beth Sutton, with Austin Shin winning 98 – 67. The Dictionary Corner guest was Bernard Ingham, and the lexicographer was Alison Heard.

NOTE: Shin's declaration of SWINGED in Round 12 was valid as it's the past participle of SWINGE – therefore, the final score should have been 105 – 67.

This episode was the final time that Countdown was shown in place of cricket (notwithstanding Episode 7453, which was moved from More4 to Channel 4 due to early-finishing cricket), despite there being several opportunities later that summer to do so.
