Howard Somerset is left-handed, which possible explains his tendency to spell his name backwards on occasion.

An old git, who, according to his wife, spends far too much time in front of his computer doing totally irrelevant things, rather than doing useful things around the house. He, on the other hand, has a diametrically opposite view; he has to spend far too much time doing irrelevant things around the house, leaving far too little time to do those very important things at his computer.

Not (yet) appeared on Countdown, but has attended three of the COLIN events. Achieved one win in 2008, two wins in 2009 and three wins in 2010. Still pondering whether this marks the start of an arithmetic or geometric series. What is probably far more likely is that these are simply two terms in an oscillating series with period two.

Also appeared at the CoNot 2008 and CoNot 2009 events.

Currently quaking at the thought of playing against Richard Priest in the preliminary round of COOT 08, but consoled by the thought of probably claiming the first guaranteed place in COOT 08's plate competition.
