Mary (possibly Mary Craig, although her surname was never given) was the first ever lexicographer on Countdown. She was a graduate from the University of Leeds. She was the first woman to appear on Channel 4, unbeknown to many, who think that Carol Vorderman was the first woman. In fact, a glimpse of Mary is shown when Ted Moult introduces his "assistant".
