However, in his final game he ran into multi-quiz champion David Stainer and lost by just two points. Coutts looked like a likely candidate for the quarter-finals, but wasn't invited back because the series had 8 octochamps. In win-point (seeding) order, Coutts was the #10 contestant of Series 47 – the lowest ever placing for a 7-time winner.
