There have been two major Countdown game formats known as the 7 round format:
- The "old" or "original" 7 round format (LLNLLNC), used for Celebrity Countdown Series 1
- The "new" 7 round format (LNLNLLC), used for assorted episodes of 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown
