Mo Mowlam (1949-2005) was a guest on Countdown. A Labour MP, she brokered the Good Friday Agreement which effectively ended the Northern Ireland "troubles". Diagnosed with a brain tumour in 1997, she retired from parliament in 2001 and published her policial memoirs, Momentum, the following year.
