I can no longer be convinced that the production staff did not know about Volante's absence. Sorry that was from memory as I recall that there was an article in the press about it, but I'll let you know if I find any sources.
Having listened to that clip, what I don't understand is, if Ivor Jones and Ian Clayton were there and one of them did replace Ian Volante, why were they able to show their faces and names at the start along with Peter Effer, yet had to edit them out of the first round? Very mysterious!
