Magnus Magnusson KBE was a guest on Countdown. He was originally an investigative journalist and translator. He rose to his greatest fame as question master of British TV's most prestigious quiz show, Mastermind, hosting the show from 1972 to 1997.

One of his daughters, Sally, was also a Dictionary Corner guest.

He sadly passed away on 7 January 2007.
