Shad Chokdar was a contestant in Series 86. He is from Swindon.
His first match was against five-time champion John Aziz, who was on top form with over 500 points scored in his first 5 games. Aziz pulled ahead by eight with RECLINED in the second round, however Shad reduced the lead to a single point in the following round, after John fluffed his lines. The two gladiators remained one point apart until the tenth round, where Aziz found CENTAURS, and Chokdar could only find CANTERS, thus increasing the champ's lead to nine points. Both players found the nine in SECTIONED the next round, and at the conundrum, the score was 110 - 101 in John Aziz's favour. The game would be settled on a crucial conundrum, where Shad buzzed within three and a half seconds and unscrambled GOBZILLAE with the declaration of GLOBALIZE, to take a surprise one-point victory and the teapot, despite never leading the game up to that point, and John achieved the unwanted title of highest losing score in regular season play with 110.
Shad went on to win against Ian Fraser the next day 80 – 31, before losing to Jack Davies by 52 points in his third game, after two illegal words in the first two rounds, and a nine-letter gamble in the final letters round being disallowed.
He has also appeared in The 1% Club in 2025.
