Talk:Episode 4358
From Countdown
I quite like the layout here, good work Stewart. If we can streamline it a bit more then I'll turn it into templates, then write a tool to dump in as many existing recaps as possible. Soo 02:49, 9 September 2007 (BST)
- Thank you. You've probably noticed that I've included other words only where they beat what the contestants found. I don't know if there's a good way to extend it to show more than this (or distinguish between what DC/CV found and other words/solutions found by viewers) without cluttering the layout too much. -- Smjg 16:33, 9 September 2007 (BST)
- I think from an encyclopaedic perspective, it's not worth recording which words DC bother to mention, especially since words get left out of the edit. I think we should list only the longest words from each round (excluding those found be the contestants, obviously.) Within those, maybe we should mark those that beat DC with a star (in case I do something statistical in future.) In general I like the lightweight look of the current page. I've just done Episode 4359 in the new template style. BTW do we have a template for tea-time teasers? We could also do with a house style on how to indicate invalid words, failed numbers solutions, misdeclarations and the like. -- Smjg 23:19, 11 September 2007 (BST)
- We don't have a template for teasers yet, but I will write one. For invalid words, I suggest lowercase followed by a cross (☓), and for failed numbers (including by misdeclaration), just follow the declaration by a cross. Soo 12:03, 12 September 2007 (BST)
- I forgot to mention, I really like how you've laid out the template parameters. I will modify my recap parser to output in that format. I hope to start uploading the parser's output in the next day or so, so check the example output (Episode 4131) and let me know soonish if I've missed anything important.
