Series 84
Series 84 will be the next series of Countdown and the first series presented by Anne Robinson, following Nick Hewer's departure from the show.
Rachel Riley announced her second pregnancy on 14 April 2021. It is currently unknown what effect this will have on the show; her first simply saw recordings of Series 82 pause for three and a half months. However, given that this meant that the show was only a month and a bit ahead of broadcast at the time of the first COVID-19 lockdown, combined with the fact that they will have to film an episode without her for Black Takeover Day, means they may well film with her replacement during her second pregnancy.
While all legal limits on social contact in the UK are forecast to be lifted on 21 June, studio audiences will not be returning for any future editions of the programme; it remains to be seen when or if social distancing will continue beyond this date.
