Dr John Cooper Clarke is a guest on Countdown. After first appearing on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, he then made his debut on the regular version on 20 March 2023. He is a performance poet and makes regular appearances on TV panel shows. He earned his doctorate in July 2013 from the University of Salford.
In all of his Catsdown appearances to date, all contestants have been asked to write a poem individually for him to listen to and then pick his favourite out of the lot.
