Countdown transmission times

Countdown is broadcast by Channel 4 at 15:25 on Mondays to Fridays most weeks throughout the year. The usual exceptions are during public holidays, when times might vary, and during the Christmas / New Year break and the Cheltenham Festival and Glorious Goodwood race weeks when the programme is suspended. Since 2008, the programme has also taken a four week break during the summer and at Christmas.

In addition to all of the +1 channels, most programmes are repeated just once:

• on S4C (analogue terrestrial channel only) at 14:15 on Monday to Friday afternoons

During the final week of Series 61 on Channel 4, S4C is eight programmes behind. S4C will then catch up during the break between Series 61 and 62.

• Final preliminary round - Monday 21st Dec
• Quarter finals - Tues 22nd, Wed 23rd, Thu 24th, and extra programme at 13:30 on Tues 29th Dec
• Semi finals - 14:15 Tues 29th and 13:30 Wed 30th Dec
• Final - 14:15 Wed 30th Dec

Until recently, Countdown programmes had two further repeat showings

• on More4, but this practice stopped at the end of 2008
• early morning on Channel 4, but this appears to have stopped with effect from the programme first transmitted on 5th November 2009.

In addition, programmes can be watched using 4oD, Channel 4's on-demand service, at any time up to thirty days after the first transmission.
