A sudden-death conundrum is called on when the game finishes with both players level on score after the final, by definition crucial conundrum. Also known as a 'crucial crucial conundrum', the sudden-death conundrum (or conundrums, if one is insufficient to getting the job done) is the Countdown equivalent of a penalty shoot-out in football- in as much as the first person to correctly solve the answer wins the game. The conundrum carries with it the normal ten point score- however, the status of these points in terms of octochamp runs and final positions at events like COLIN or CoBris is hotly debated.
