Episode CLAN22
Episode CLAN22, billed as Celebrity Letters and Numbers Series 2, Episode 10 was a special episode broadcast on 7 May 2022 as part of Celebrity Letters and Numbers.
Nina Oyama, Dane Simpson and Concetta Caristo were the contestants, while Michael Hing reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Concetta Caristo winning by 33 – 50 – 53 and she won the 1986 edition of "M to N" section form the Oceaniapaedia encyclopedia.
Lily Serna was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Carlo Ritchie, and the lexicographer was David Astle.
In this version of the game, three players competing with each other instead of traditional two. Also, this version notably uses a scoring system whereby all players receive points for each valid word or solution, even if beaten by their opponents (equivalent to them receiving their "raw scores").
In Letters Rounds of this version, all the words are checked by their presence in Collins Dictionary instead of Oxford, meaning that American and other spellings of the words are eligible.
In Numbers Rounds of this version, players receive points for their declarations, even if the solutions for players' declarations were not provided in the show, assuming they were cut out from broadcasting to speed up the show. Also, player can get points if their solution leads to the result which not matches with the declared result, but it's still in scoring margin.
NOTE 1: In Round 1, David accepted the word DOGATE which can't be found in ODE, but is present in Collins Dictionary. Also in round 4, David didn't accept QUEEF, which is listed in both Oxford and Collins dictionaries. If these decisions weren't made, the score of the game would be 27 – 50 – 58, not affecting Concetta's victory.
NOTE 2: In Round 9, Nina declared that she didn't get 134 and also didn't declare any specific result of her calculations, but still receives 7 points.
