Episode Cats10, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 2, Episode 6: 1980s Special was a special episode broadcast on 20 September 2013, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 2. As its title suggests, this episode was also an 80s special.
8 out of 10 Cats regular Jon Richardson and Acting Team Captain Lee Mack were the contestants, along with David O'Doherty and Henning Wehn who were their teammates, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Henning Wehn, winning by 46 – 22 in an 8-rounder.
Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician, and Joe Wilkinson helped her out from Round 5 onwards. The Dictionary Corner guest was Vic Reeves, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
NOTE 1: In view that this episode was an 80s special, the episode began with a "flashback" of Jimmy having a tour of the Countdown studio in the 80s (Albeit without any mention of the late Richard Whiteley or Carol Vorderman). Coupled with that, the mashed-up title sequence was that of Countdown's opening between 10 July 1989 to 29 March 1991, from Series 18 to Series 21. However, the original music was replaced with that of the current music used since New Year's Day 1996.
NOTE 2: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
