David Stainer was a contestant in Series 47.

He pipped Peter Coutts by just two points in Coutts' eighth game, and went on to make three centuries before losing to Cyril Cohen.

A solicitor, in 2003, he was invited back to play fellow solicitor Simon Cobb in a special episode.

He has appeared on several other quiz shows, most notably University Challenge, Brain Teaser, Fifteen to One and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, winning £64,000 in the latter.
