His late daughter Sally had previously appeared as a contestant in 1998, and they both returned to play each other in a special, which was broadcast in 2004.

Hutchings holds the record for the lowest winning score in a 9-round game when he beat Jimmy Neil in his 8th game with a score of 21 – 11.

Hutchings passed away in 2007 after a long battle with cancer.
