Ernie Wise (1925-99) was a comedian, best known for being half of double-act Morecambe and Wise. He made 12 appearances in total between Series 19 and Series 20, by which time Wise had all-but retired from the entertainment business. One anecdote he told in Dictionary Corner related to the time a fan came up to him asking if he used to be in Morecambe and Wise. On confirmation, the fan asked "Was it you or the other one that died?"
