Lexicographer

The lexicographer resides in Dictionary Corner and rules on the validity of words offered by the contestants. Together with the Corner guest, they suggest any superior (or interesting) words available. Formerly rotational, the role was eventually filled permanently by Susie Dent since 6 February 2008.
On the show, the illusion that they find these words themselves is maintained but both are fitted with earpieces in reality. The words were actually found by the show's producer, currently Damian Eadie, or occasionally by other assistants such as Julian Fell during the Series 48 finals – but never by anagramming software. The words are adjudicated against the Oxford Dictionaries Premium website.
