Countdown is broadcast by Channel 4 from 14:40 to 15:30 British Time on Mondays to Fridays most weeks throughout the year. The usual exceptions are during public holidays, when times may vary, during the Christmas / New Year break, and when Channel 4 gives extensive coverage to such race meetings as the Cheltenham Festival and Glorious Goodwood when the programme is suspended.

In addition to the +1 channel, most programmes are repeated twice:

  • At 16:45 British Time on 4seven on the day of original broacast.
  • Early mornings on Channel 4 at around 05:00, about 60 hours after first transmission.

Countdown programmes used to have an additional repeat showing on More4, but this practice stopped at the end of 2008.

They were also given a showing on S4C a few days after the first Channel 4 tranmission, but this ceased with the completion of the digital switchover in Wales in March 2010.

Programmes can, however, be watched using 4oD, Channel 4's on-demand service, at any time up to thirty days after the first transmission.
