Episode 7874 was broadcast on 19 October 2022, as part of Series 86.
Christy Cooper played David Reeves, with Christy Cooper winning 87 – 51. The Dictionary Corner guest was John Thomson, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
NOTE 1: In Round 8, Cooper’s initial declaration was FANNIES – he was then given the word INFANTS by production instead, as the former word was deemed unsuitable for broadcast.
NOTE 2: In Round 10, Dent clarified on-air the occasionally misunderstood regular adjective rule, in response to Reeves' guess of drapier ☓ – to be Countdown valid, comparatives and superlatives must be specified in the ODP unless they contain only one syllable.
Notably, both Teatime Teasers had the same clue. This is the sixth of seven known occurrences of this – the other six being in episodes 6160, 7868, 8101, and when this episode’s own teasers were reused from episodes 4877, 6196 and 7519.
