Matt Bayfield is an Apterite.
He has not appeared on Countdown as a contestant, although he has attended over 25 Countdown tournaments. In winning the Co:Lon 2011 tournament, he became the second person, after Rob Foster, to have won a tournament without previously having appeared as a contestant on television.
He appeared on the show on Wednesday 25 May 2011 as the audience member who solved the conundrum GIRLAMORE.
Outside of the Countdown world, Bayfield appeared as a contestant on both A Question of Genius and Wordplay in 2009.
