Cecil Korer
From Countdown

Cecil Korer was a veteran TV producer. He was appointed as Channel 4's first head of light entertainment by Jeremy Isaacs, in which role he served for just over a year (and by Isaacs' own admission with a paltry budget) but was responsible for commissioning several of the channel's early hits such as Countdown and Treasure Hunt — both shows being based on French originals. His role in bringing the show to the screen is commemorated in the name of Countdown's random number generator, CECIL.
He sadly passed away on 13 October 2011, aged 86.
