Amol Rajan is a guest on Countdown. He was editor of The Independent from 2013 until they dropped their print edition in 2016. He then joined BBC News as their Media Editor, presenting The Media Show, and as of 2021, Today, both on Radio 4. On 18 August 2022, he was announced as the new host of University Challenge from 2023, succeeding Jeremy Paxman.
