Anne Robinson is the current presenter of Countdown. At the time of her six appearances as a Dictionary Corner guest on the show in 1987, she was helming Points of View, but later became most famous for hosting The Weakest Link for over 10 years.
On 15 February 2021, it was announced on Steph's Packed Lunch that Robinson will replace Nick Hewer as host of Countdown, following Hewer's departure. She is the first female main host of the regular weekday version Countdown, with Katherine Ryan having presented an episode of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Robinson took over at the start of Series 84, where her first episode began with a clip of Richard Whiteley introducing her as Dictionary Corner guest.
