Amy Agbisit-Berry (known as Amy Berry) was an octochamp in Series 91. She was a maths lecturer, former insurance executive and bibliophile. She originally hailed from the Philippines, but is since of Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk. She joined Apterous after the recording of all her games.
Heat games
Amy had a respectable debut against train conductor, Ashley Upchurch, pulling away early and not really allowing Upchurch to get anywhere close although he did solve the conundrum. She followed that up with seven further victories to become the fifth and final octochamp of the series, while also securing the No. 4 seed in the process.
Her second victory saw the first tie-break conundrum on-screen in over a year with Berry spotting OCCURRING, to narrowly stay in the champion's chair. After six further wins with three centuries as well under her belt, she racked up a tally of 750 points and into the quarter-final matchup against Christine Smith.
Finals
In the aforementioned quarter-final match, Amy laid a marker early on with ARMPITS, FINAGLES and from there only continued to build her lead to end the match before the final numbers game which Christine did solve to claw back some points. And after neither of them cracked another difficult conundrum, Berry marched onwards into a semi-final matchup with Rhys Jones.
She kept well within range of Rhys with her never allowing him to build an insurmountable lead but Rhys' superior numbers play kept him ahead and the match ended before the conundrum which neither of them was able to solve. This marked the end of Amy's time on the show with her lowest score to date, and a final points tally of 917 from ten games.
