Calendar Countdown Series 1 was the first eight transmitted episodes, broadcast from 19 April to 7 June 1982, consisting of an eight-player knockout format akin to a modern Countdown series finals stage. The grand final was held as a two-legged affair – all tapes of the second leg are widely believed to have been wiped. Contestants had no visible nameplates – therefore, some of their names may be spelled phonetically here.
