Both contestants were returning contestants, with Kirby having appeared in Series 60, and Wood in Series 20.

By solving the conundrum, Wood became the first female champion since Kate Ogilvie won Series 39 back in 1998 and only the sixth in the show's 42-year history.

This was also the first series grand final to be decided by a crucial conundrum since Series 80.
