Episode CLAN29
Episode CLAN29, billed as Celebrity Letters and Numbers Series 3, Episode 5 was a special episode broadcast on 31 October 2022 as part of Celebrity Letters and Numbers.
Jenny Tian, Rhys Nicholson and Michala Banas were the contestants, while Michael Hing reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Michala Banas winning by 34 – 15 – 52 and she won the Hing's 1999 the Sutherland Shire and St George Youth Music Awards trophy from his childhood bedroom.
Lily Serna was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Carlo Ritchie, and the lexicographer was David Astle.
In this version of the game, three players competing with each other instead of traditional two. Also, this version notably uses a scoring system whereby all players receive points for each valid word or solution, even if beaten by their opponents (equivalent to them receiving their "raw scores").
In Letters Rounds of this version, all the words are checked by their presence in Collins Dictionary instead of Oxford, meaning that American and other spellings of the words are eligible.
In Numbers Rounds of this version, players receive points for their declarations, even if the solutions for players' declarations were not provided in the show, assuming they were cut out from broadcasting to speed up the show. Also, player can get points if their solution leads to the result which not matches with the declared result, but it's still in scoring margin.
