Episode CLAN48
Episode CLAN48, billed as Celebrity Letters and Numbers Series 4, Episode 12 was a special episode uploaded on SBS On Demand on 12 February 2024 as part of Celebrity Letters and Numbers.
Concetta Caristo, Luke McGregor and Jenna Owen were the contestants, while Michael Hing reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Luke McGregor winning by 44 – 47 – 36 and he won the leopard-print hat from Hing's childhood bedroom.
Lily Serna was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Andy Saunders, and the lexicographer was David Astle.
In this version of the game, three players competing with each other instead of traditional two. Also, this version notably uses a scoring system whereby all players receive points for each valid word or solution, even if beaten by their opponents (equivalent to them receiving their "raw scores").
In Letters Rounds of this version, all the words are checked by their presence in Collins Dictionary instead of Oxford, meaning that American and other spellings of the words are eligible.
In Numbers Rounds of this version, players receive points for their declarations, even if the solutions for players' declarations were not provided in the show, assuming they were cut out from broadcasting to speed up the show. Also, player can get points if their solution leads to the result which not matches with the declared result, but it's still in scoring margin.
NOTE 1: In Round 2, Jenna initially gave the word COVES, but then she didn't want to match with Concetta's answer, so she gave the word VOCES. After David's refusal, Michael advised Jenna to give a completely another word, so she said MOVES.
NOTE 2: In Round 6, Luke initially declared that he was "4 off", but after extra time he got the exact solution. He still receives 10 points.
