Series 88 is the current series of Countdown, and the fourth series to feature Colin Murray as presenter. It began on 30 June 2023, and will conclude in December.

Adrian Clarke, who won the final preliminary match of Series 87, returned to continue his run in the first heat of this series.

Episode 8056 was broadcast five minutes earlier at 14:05 to accommodate the live second practice of the 2023 British Grand Prix.

This series will see former presenter Jeff Stelling in Dictionary Corner for the week from 21–25 August, marking his first appearance on the show since he left the presenter role in 2011.
