George Baker was an octochamp in Series 88. He was a Bartender and Chef from Croydon. He will almost certainly return for the series finals in December 2023.

Baker débuted on the episode immediately after the game in which Harry Savage became the first octochamp of the series. In a close affair against former finalist Ken Heaton, Baker cracked the crucial conundrum at the death to win by 7 points. The next day, he faced Avi Sharma – a candidate in the 2023 series of The Apprentice – who failed to score a single point. Baker's seventh match was incredibly close – one which could have swung in his opponent's favour had Will Gilchrist's disallowed nine coronates ☓ appeared in the dictionary – but Baker quickly cracked another crucial conundrum to remain in the champion's chair for one last heat game. A regular chooser of 6-small numbers games, he wrapped up with an exact century and marked Series 88's second consecutive octochamp.
