Tom Hargreaves played Ben Wilson, with Tom Hargreaves winning 131 – 98. The Dictionary Corner guest was Eric Knowles, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
At the time, Hargreaves and Wilson's joint score of 229 was the highest in Countdown history, beating 227 on 21 January 2002. It was beaten with 241 on 8 June 2006.
