Joe Lycett was a guest on Countdown, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and a contestant on the latter show. He is a stand-up comedian, usually seen on shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats.
He provided one of the most famous anecdotes in the show's history: on 14 August 2015, he told a story about how he persuaded a local council to rescind a parking fine. The anecdote went viral on social media, such as Twitter and YouTube; on the strength of said tale — he was given his own consumer advice program, Joe Lycett's Got Your Back, for which in 2020, he changed his name by deed poll to Hugo Boss as a manner of protest against the actions of the clothing company with the same name. He changed his name back to Joe Lycett later that year — he did not appear on either Countdown or Catsdown using this name.
