Episode Cats24, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 5, Episode 1 was a special episode broadcast on 5 September 2014, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 5.
8 Out of 10 Cats regulars Jon Richardson and Sean Lock were the contestants, along with Roisin Conaty and David Mitchell who were their teammates, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of David Mitchell, winning by 34 – 27 in an 8-rounder and they won a Countdown dog "jacket" which was accompanied by an actual dog wearing it.
Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician, and Joe Wilkinson helped her out from round 5 onwards. The Dictionary Corner guest was Phill Jupitus, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
