Episode Cats53, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 8, Episode 2 was a special episode broadcast on 22 January 2016, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 8.
8 Out of 10 Cats regulars Sean Lock and Jon Richardson were the contestants, along with Rob Beckett and Cariad Lloyd who were their teammates, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Sean Lock, with the assistance of Rob Beckett, winning by 32 – 22 in an 7-rounder and they won a Countdown luggage set.
Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Jamie Laing, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
In Round 1, the clock music was "jazzed" up with five performers doing the can-can in the centre of the studio.
For the final anecdote, Jamie and Rob went head-to-head with a quiz testing each other's knowledge. Rob won the quiz with the score at 1 – 0. However, as Jamie was not a contestant, bonus points were not awarded.
NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
