George Telford

George Telford, 38 years after his first appearance, in Series 91.

George Telford was a contestant in Series 11 and Series 91. He is a retired Postman, originally from Glasgow but since of the parish of St. Martin in Jersey, Channel Islands.

George originally appeared on the show in 1987, playing against Maurice Sobell, and although he managed to solve the conundrum, Maurice was the winner by six points.

38 years later, George made a return to Countdown, and faced two-time victor Mike Le-Surf, and managed to not only secure a teapot, but also went and produced the first century of Series 91. The next day, he was able to add another win to his tally, however he came unstuck in his third game against Brian O'Donovan, after failing to score in the first six rounds, and Brian won by a sixty point margin.
