John Player was a contestant in Series 93 from Ulting in the Maldon district of Essex. At the time of his appearances, he was the headteacher of The Stanway School in Stanway, Essex. In 2024, he oversaw the school taking part in the documentary Swiped: The School That Banned Smartphones.
