MSR

Matthew S Rutherford, more commonly known in the abbreviated form, MSR, is an Apterite from Birmingham. He made his co-event player debut at Co:Man 2020, his hosting debut at Co:Brum 2022, and won his first competition at Co:TW 2025, where he beat Tom Cappleman in the grand final. Since 2023, he has organised the annual Countdown in Rugby and Countdown in Birmingham double-headers, held every March and August respectively.

Zoomdown

Series 1

MSR competed in ZoomDown Series 1, winning two games before losing to Jacob Coventry-Peters.

Series 5

Just over five years later, he returned for ZoomDown Series 5; this time though, he would not be stopped, as he racked up four century-scoring victories and 489 points, to become the first tetrachamp of the series. Finishing as the second seed, he returned for his Quarter-Final, where he comfortably dispatched seventh seed Ciaran McCarthy to march onto the semi-finals. Therein, Jase Cullen proved to be his toughest opponent to date, and the latter carved out an unassailable lead before the conundrum. MSR went out on a high by quickly spotting OBESIANCE for his sixth ZoomDown conundrum in a row, as well as his sixth century.

Series 6

MSR competed in the first episode of ZoomDown Series 6, the first series to use a 64-way knockout format. He played against Adam Latchford in the Round of 64 stage, but was unfortunately overpowered after declaring the invalid words daturia ☓, endzones ☓ and alatern ☓, as well as messing up on the first numbers round. Despite being eliminated with a final score of 69 to Latchford's impressive 119, he has since appeared as the lexicographer and arithmetician on occasion.
