Janet McRae was the runner-up of series 12 in 1987. After winning 2 heats, she returned for the final rounds as #7 seed, beating Cathy Morgan via a sudden death conundrum in the quarter-final before beating Matthew Francis in the semi-final. In the final against Stephen Balment, a mistake in the final numbers game cost her a chance at a crucial conundrum, and she lost 81-66. Janet did not play in Championship of Champions III, but did play in the supreme championship, losing in the first round to Damian Eadie.
