Episode 6289 was broadcast on 19 January 2016, and was the fourth quarter-final of Championship of Champions XIV.

Dan McColm played Mark Murray, with Dan McColm winning 112 – 99. The Dictionary Corner guest was Naga Munchetty, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

NOTE 1: Though this wasn't a special episode, this episode was "Yearly champion 2014" as it featured both series champions who won Countdown in 2014: when Murray won Series 70 and when McColm won Series 71.

NOTE 2: When Rachel Riley displayed WEIRDOS on the letters board in Round 11, it was misspelt as wierdos ☓.

This episode was repeated on 14 July 2020.
