Revision as of 16:04, 13 August 2022
Episode 6984 was broadcast on 8 January 2019, and was the fifth preliminary of Championship of Champions XV.
Paul Erdunast played Zarte Siempre, with Zarte Siempre winning 113 – 105. The Dictionary Corner guest was Kate Humble, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
NOTE: When introducing Siempre, Nick Hewer incorrectly stated Philip Aston's surname as Ashton. Possibly, he could have mixed it up with Series 79 quarter-finalist Dave Ashton's surname as both only differ by one letter.
This episode was repeated on 24 July 2020.
Notably, the conundrum solution is no longer a valid word, as it is hyphenated in the UK sections of ODO Premium and Lexico [1] (but not in the US sections [2]); Lexico had the UK and US sections under one section at the time of filming, but they are now separate sections. The US sections are not used in Dictionary Corner.
