8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 3, Episode 1 was a special episode broadcast on 3 January 2014, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 3.
8 Out of 10 Cats regulars Jon Richardson and Sean Lock were the contestants, along with Rhod Gilbert and Kevin Bridges who were their teammates, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Kevin Bridges, winning by 39 – 27 in an 8-rounder.
Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician, and Joe Wilkinson helped her out from round 5 onwards. The Dictionary Corner guest was Josie Long, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
NOTE: This was the first ever episode in 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown that the winning team does not receive a Teapot. Rather, an item with the Countdown logo was given to them, starting with a pair of Countdown robes. This has since become a permanent feature on the show, although the logo has been dropped.
NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
